Cuatro japoneses para disfrutar

Somewhat away from the city centre but with good metro communications (Avenida de América metro, Calle Padre Jesús Ordóñez, 12), Yamate is a restaurant that will not thrill you with its decoration but rather because you can reserve a private tatami, ideal for eating in true Japanese style with your group of friends. They have a wide range of hot and cold dishes, raw and cooked, such as the tuna dulpan (chopped avocado tobiko on rice covered with tuna) or the spicy salmon tartare. Prices are moderate, costing some 25 euros per person with drinks included.

Yakitoro offers a concept that is more about fusion, a restaurant that is the latest creation of TV chef Alberto Chicote. Located in the heart of Madrid (Calle Reina, 41), its name pays tribute to traditional Japanese taverns that cooked in front of their clients (perhaps to avoid unwanted poisoning). It is not a place to go and eat sushi and nigiri but rather for its excellent skewers. Divided in categories such as Land, Water, Farm and Ranch, there are many options to choose from, ideal to share and at prices that range from 3 to 7 euros.

However, if sushi is what you really like, visit this Japanese restaurant where, as its name indicates, they offer it with the best quality: Sushi99 bar. They say they have the best fresh produce on the market in the four restaurants they have, with highly recommended dishes such as tiger prawn tempura, butterfish nigiri with truffle or hotate maki. The quality of the food is excellent and they have tasting menus for 100 euros per person with wine included.

And, lastly, a different kind of offer, a treat for your holidays: Zen Market. This luxurious place with a designer interior has extraordinary views of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. It is a trendy place where many people go there to be seen and it has an expensive reputation but it is worth trying just for the original experience. Its dishes are of Asian fusion, combining Chinese and Japanese recipes with excellent nigiris.
