Arte por un tubo: ARCO
This year’s edition of Spain’s most important art fair will take place a little later than usual, from February 25th until March 1st. This year, the focus is on Latin-American artists, who will have a prominent representation next to the other regular and new exhibitors. Designed as a fair for collectors and art dealers, it is also open to the general public who wishes to check out first hand the newest trends in contemporary art.
For that, you can buy tickets here at 66 euros if you want the catalogue too, 40 euros for Fridays and Saturdays or 30 euros for Sunday. You can access pavilions 7 and 9 of the Feria de Madrid, IFEMA, on Line 8 of the metro and get off at Campo de las Naciones.
So what can you see when you are inside? Well, art, art and more art, spread around the 212 galleries from the 30 countries that will be represented. This 34th edition will have 70 projects dedicated to one or two artists, in the initiative SOLO/DUO that confirms the value of this fair to pinpoint emerging and consolidated talents of the art world. Among them are names such as Esther Ferrer, Fernando Bryce, Javier Téllez, Jimmie Durham or Leonor Antunes. Watch out as well for the Colombian galleries that are arriving at this year’s ARCO in the #ARCOColombia section, which will have a prominent presence in this year’s international art fair.
A piece of advice: do not overdo looking at paintings and installations. Select on the map the galleries that you are interested in seeing and stick exclusively to them. The days of the 27th and 28th of February and 1st of March are dedicated to art aficionados and the general public.
Another piece of advice: do not go on those days and enjoy the experience like if you were a potential rich art dealer in search of new talents which to invest in. Complete the experience by staying in a charming hotel in the heart of Madrid like ours.
