Five festivals near or in Madrid that you can’t miss this summer
Summer has arrived with a bang, bringing thunderstorms and some of the hottest weather in living memory, and with it comes music festivals. Ticket sales open and sell out, and festival-goers accumulate more and more entry wristbands.
Here are some of the festivals near Madrid – or in Madrid – where you can enjoy good vibes and good music.
- Las Noches del Botánico. More than a festival in the traditional sense, it is a huge list of concerts held in the botanical garden at the Complutense University. As well as the good music, it’s worth getting there early to enjoy a meal and a beer on the lawn and enjoy the scent of summer.
- Mad Cool. Held at the beginning of July every year since 2016, it always attracts many visitors from all over Spain and the rest of the world. If you want to see Sigur Ros or the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this is your year.
- Huercasa Country Festival. This festival is held in mid-July in Riaza, in the province of Segovia, a few kilometres from Madrid. Country music has a huge following and many people dust off their boots and hats to go to this festival. In addition to the setting, it is a great day out for the whole family.
- Sonorama. In Aranda del Duero, just under an hour and a half from Madrid, this indie music festival attracts large number crowds. Iván Ferreiro, Vetusta Morla, Carolina Durante and Xoel López are some of the artists who will take to the stage from 9 to 13 August. It is also a good opportunity to get to know Aranda, the surroundings and gastronomy.
- Músicos por la Naturaleza. Held during the summer months in Hoyo del Espino, a small village in the province of Ávila. There is no date for this year yet, which leads us to believe that it will be held in September, like the previous edition. The setting is unique and authentic, the perfect opportunity to enjoy a wonderful weekend at the end of the summer.
