The best tapas, slow-cooked

By | 14 November, 2017 | 0 comments

The world of miniature cuisine is becoming increasingly specialised and it is offering techniques which are more and more refined every day, such as slow cooking, a growing gastronomic trend which lends its name to the II Slow Cooked Tapas Route. On this occasion, 16 bars and restaurants located around the Retiro-Bulevares area, an area growing in popularity among tapas gourmets, will participate. Each bar or restaurant offers a tapa, always slow-cooked, with prices which range from 3.50 to 5 euros for a gastronomic delight which focuses on intense flavours and delicate textures.

Some of the area’s most emblematic bars and restaurants have joined this initiative, such as Casa Martín (founded in 1940), which offers meatballs cooked the old-school way, nice and slowly or, as they say, the right way. Just as good are the tuna cubes with lime from Casa de Fieras or the scallops with sweet and sour paprika from Atlántico-Casa de Petiscos.

The route also enjoys a wide range of culinary styles: Traditional, gaditano, fresh-produce, Castilian, sophisticated, imaginative and fusion among others. Some of the area’s most emblematic restaurants are taking part in this event on streets such as Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza and Sáinz de Baranda among others, all of them a stone’s throw from El Retiro Park.

Hurry up because the event finishes on December 10th, although by no means does it signal the end of Madrid’s gastronomic programme. You should also note down the monthly event of the Madrid Productores market, which will take place on December 16-17 and that, due to the Christmas holidays, this month will be located in the Railway Museum, on Paseo de las Delicias, 1. Food trucks, wine tastings, cooking shows, oysters, regional specialities, homemade products such as oil, cheeses and cold cuts; organic burgers, traditional vermouths and much more will come together in what is a fantastic plan for the whole family.
