Want to go ice skating?
Madrid has a fantastic offering for anyone who wants to go ice skating, with spectacular spots such as the Glass Gallery in Cibeles Palace, in the heart of the city. You can go skating under a stunning glass dome although for a limited time only, since there are a lot of people who want to skate and the space is not very big. 30 minutes of skating costs 6 euros and it includes skate rental. A brief yet intense experience awaits.
Another spot is Plaza de la Luna, which once again has become an urban ice rink which will be open, just like the aforementioned one at CentroCentro, until January 7. You pay 5 euros for 45 minutes of skating or 7.50 euros on weekends, since there are more people there. Remember to bring gloves since their use is mandatory (to avoid any unpleasant injuries, above all). However, you can also buy them at the ticket office for 2 euros.
If you want to skate for free (although free things usually involve investing time), on Plaza Colón they have once again set up a rink of over 3,200 ft2. There is an excellent atmosphere here thanks to the food options available and you can also receive free skating lessons in these excellent facilities that also include lockers to get changed in.
Although this isn’t strictly skating, you can still feel the speed on the sliding slope they have set up at Cuesta de Moyano, which is open every day from 10.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. For just 3 euros, you can feel the wind in your hair but you can get a discount if you already have a ticket from Plaza de la Luna.
Outside of the city centre you can find ice rinks such as the one at La Vaguada shopping centre, which is very similar to the one in Plaza de la Luna. As a novelty, this year they have set up an ice slope for sleds. Don’t miss out on it!
