Three ramen restaurants

Madrid is a cradle of cultures and international gastronomy, and like most major cities, there’s an almost infinite variety of culinary offerings from around the world to be found in restaurants throughout the city. On this occasion we’re going to focus on a particular dish that has been fashionable for some time now: ramen.

Although ramen has its origins in Chinese cuisine, it has been popularised by Japan, partly because of manga, but also because of the growing popularity of traditional Japanese cuisine in recent years. And not only Japanese, but also Korean food and culture, which is gaining more and more followers and fans and has helped promote this version of Chinese noodle soup.

Here we are going to offer a list of 3 great places in Madrid to savour this delicacy. While there are many more, either specialised or offering the dish as part of the menu, these are a good starting point:

  1. Yokaloka, in the Antón Martín market. The founder, who is of Japanese origin and has some 15 years’ experience, is 100% hands-on with the business, which means the dishes have a certain authenticity and are a true reflection of the original recipes. This is also why their ramen, which comes in a variety of flavours and options, is so famous. They also boast the best sushi in Madrid, made to order, because that’s how it should be.
  2. Ramen Kagura. This is a chain with some 20 restaurants spread throughout the centre of Madrid and the surrounding neighbourhoods and municipalities. The secret of its success is specialisation. Those who come here enjoy the ramen experience on the first visit and end up coming back again and again.
  3. Ramen Komainu, on Calle Jose Abascal. Behind this excellent restaurant is the story of Aska, who made the decision to transport the flavours of her childhood to this gastronomic project. A menu specialising in different types of ramen in an ambience that transports you back to the Land of the Rising Sun.
