Madrid Río: fuente de sensaciones
It is the city’s most important getaway and leisure option and, since its creation four years ago, it has become a favourite place for locals. You can get here in just a few metro stops, whether it is from Legazpi, Pirámides or Príncipe Pío, although one of the best ways of getting there is by bicycle, having previously rented one from BiciMad. From our charming hotel in Madrid, you can get there in just 10 minutes by foot.
There are no fewer than 18 miles of lanes designed for bicycles, 33 skateboard parks and courts designed for all kinds of sports activities, from table tennis to volleyball as well as basketball or BMX.
The place is ideal for a nice stroll, some jogging or a bicycle circuit. For that, like we said, you can rent bicycles with engines from BiciMad or from other rental shops such as Mi Bike Río, where you can also rent karts, tandems and tricycles.
In this link you can find all the useful information you need for your visit, with places of historical value such as the bridges of Puente de Toledo or Puente del Rey, one of the places that this summer is hosting different performance activities that are part of the Veranos de la Villa festival. Also make sure you do not miss out on a walk around the gardens of Puente de Segovia, a series of fields with poplars that surround a pond, from where you can enjoy the views of this beautiful bridge, the oldest in the city, built in the late 16th century.
And if you are hungry after your walk, we recommend that you eat at Casa Mingo, famous for its roast chickens and its cider. It is definitely a revitalising meal without frills and at a good price. You can find it at Paseo de la Florida, 34. Afterwards, if you still have enough energy, you can visit the stunning chapel of San Antonio (de la Florida), with its famous dome painted by Goya. If you drank too much and you can see two chapels, don’t worry, there is two of them: the original and the replica.
