Un poquito de flamenco

Gone is the flamenco date par excellence in Madrid, Suma Flamenco, which usually takes place in June. However, this does not mean that Madrid is still not, as they say, the capital of flamenco. You can see this by yourself in emblematic places like El Corral de la Morería, where artists such as El Pola, Alfredo Tejada and Juañares Jr. will perform this October, with sessions at 8.30pm and 10.00pm. Tickets cost 41€ with 1 drink included.

Another classic tablao, the name of the place where flamenco shows are performed, designed especially for tourists, is Cardamomo, located on Calle Echegaray, which has an excellent programme all year long. For the last week of October, it will have the performances of dancer such as Kelian Jiménez and Irene la Sentío, with the singing from Rafita de Madrid and Ingueta Rubio. Perhaps due to having been mentioned in the New York Times as one of the most important flamenco hotspots in the Spanish capital, their prices have gone up to 72€ with dinner and 1 drink included or to 39€ without dinner.

Let’s not forget about Casa Patas, a restaurant and a tablao. It is famous more for the quality of its shows than for its food, although some disagree and state it is the other way around. The best way to come to a conclusion is to go there and check it for oneself. Its Andalusian flavour and experience make it one of the most charismatic ones in the city, less touristy than others. A more informal option is what is offered every Sunday at Sala El Barco, on Calle Barco, in the heart of Malasaña. Its proposal Flamenco en el Barco, costs 10€ and it includes 1 drink, taking place every Sunday at 9.30pm. To book call +34 91 531 77 54 from Monday to Friday from 10.00am until 6.00pm.
